The “Origins” item below will give you a nice introduction to TLUDs. But please be aware that the dynamic nature of the development process means that newer information is available, but only from the actual developers, including Paul Anderson. As more and more people in diverse places conduct projects with TLUDs and related stoves, the TLUD information could expand exponentially and some will not all be at this website or will arrive much later.
One major article was prepared by Paul Anderson and Tom Reed for a conference in Chile in 2004. It contains introductions to gasification and large gasifiers, information about forced air TLUDs (including how to make a Juntos B gasifier), and a discussion of the benefits to individuals and to the world. This is the first published item to use the designation “TLUD” (p.5).
As one indication of the dynamic advancement of TLUD technology, only in 2005 did the TLUDs get started with small-particle fuels like rice husks. Read about the accomplishments of Professor Alexis Belonio at: www.bioenergylists.org/stovesdoc/Belonio/preface.html
Paul Anderson is preparing a “TLUD Handbook.” It is still in a very preliminary form, but might be made available as a “work in progress.”
